s that she is a Christian young lady who loves the Lord and loves people from all walks of life.
Marilyn Jones-Bryant is a native of Lorain, Ohio. She is the eldest child of Johnnie L. Jones (Houston, TX ) and Mary “Lady J” Davis, and stepdaughter of Eddie Davis (Charleston, MS).
She was baptized and a member of the Popular Springs Missionary Baptist Church, Enid, MS under the leadership of the late Reverend I. S. Lewis where she sang in the junior choir.
Bryant is the former member of the recording artist, Tay-Tay and the Jones Singers of Enid, MS. She sang background, wrote songs that are registered in the library of congress, and played keyboard and set drums when needed.
She moved to the Mississippi Delta in 1987 to pursue a college degree from Mississippi Valley State University, Itta Bena. After earning the Bachelors of Science degree, she decided to make the delta her permanent home. She has lived and served in the delta for more than 23 years.
She was licensed to preach in May 1999, received a second license to preach in October 2002, and a writ of ordination 2008 upon acceptance of pastorate position. She has continued education credits in public administration, theology, community development, and income tax accounting. She is a NAFEO certified peer health educator, and a MS State Department of Health STDs/HIV instructor.
She served as Minister of Music & Youth Pastor for Monument of Grace (formerly known as Good Hope M. B. Church) from 2002 - December 2007.
From December 2007 - November 30, 2008, she served as the first elected female Baptist pastor in the Mississippi Delta. She served at the Samuel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 County Road 245, Greenwood, MS 38930.
She became a Certified Christian Counselor through One Faith Ministry, Inc. (OFM), a certified academic institution with the American Association of Christian Therapists December 27, 2008.
October 1, 2009, Marilyn received her Pastorial Leadership Training certification which enables her to train and license Evangelist, Ministers, Pastors, Preachers, and Teachers in ministry.
She became a published author, June 2008 of 365+1 Days of Prayer Journal published by Xlibris. A spin-off of this project produced the M. J. Bryant Scholarship Fund and the beginning Marilyn Jones-Bryant Ministries.
December 4, 2008, Marilyn Jones-Bryant Ministries (MJB Ministries) was established and incorporated as a church. She completed the first book signing of her new released book at the Turnrow Book Company in Downtown Historic Greenwood, December 19, 2008.
Since 2008, MJB Ministries established a Community Learning Center at 523 Brentwood Avenue and a Commnity Park and Garden located at 100 Mockingbird Lane. Three new outreach programs have been added to the learning center: Community Aftercare Program (CAP) (FALL/SPRING for kidz in school PK - 8th Grade); Camp Break-A-Way (SUMMER for kidz of all ages to 10th grade); and PreKare for Kidz (FALL/SPRING for 6 months to 3 years that can't get into school). Currently, Pastor Marilyn is completing the Bachelors and Master in Biblical Studies from the Exodus School of the Bible.
She is married to Clarence.
